SIMOPS Analyzer

Simultaneous Operations conflict detection

SIMOPS Analyzer

The SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) Analyzer detects and manages conflicts when multiple work activities occur at the same location or in close proximity. This prevents safety hazards and ensures work coordination.

How SIMOPS Works

The analyzer checks for conflicts based on:

  • Location: Work activities at the same physical location
  • Proximity: Activities in close proximity that may interfere
  • Type Conflicts: Incompatible work types (e.g., hot work near confined space)
  • Time Overlap: Activities scheduled at the same time

Integration with PTW

When creating a PTW, you can enable SIMOPS checking:

  1. Enable "SIMOPS Checking" on the PTW form
  2. Set the work location
  3. The system checks for conflicts with other active permits
  4. Conflicts are flagged for review
  5. Resolve conflicts before permit approval

Conflict Types

  • Location Conflict: Multiple permits at same location
  • Type Conflict: Incompatible permit types in proximity
  • Resource Conflict: Competing use of shared resources
  • Timing Conflict: Overlapping work periods

Managing Conflicts

When conflicts are detected, you can:

  • Review the conflicting activities
  • Adjust timing to avoid conflicts
  • Change locations if possible
  • Add additional controls to allow simultaneous work
  • Get approval from safety coordinator for exceptional cases
